Quote1 I wonder what my Valet-Rob is thinking? Can you read his thoughts, Leeja? Suppose he could think. Suppose tonight something happened -- an accident... what cold, dark spiders would scuttle across his planes of reason? Would he... idolize T-1? And what would he think of... "The Famous Robot Fighter"? Quote2

SynopsisEdit

North Am, 4001 A.D. A gang of rogue Freewill robots, led by O-1X, attacks Central-rob. Suddenly, Magnus is among them, destroying the Freewils with deadly precision! O-1X escapes, and later attacks 1-A in Magnus' undersea base. Magnus knows he has his hands full with O-1X's rebellion, and now he learns that there are an estimated ten million Freewills hidden among North Am's robot-servant population![1]

NotesEdit

  • The story "Emancipator" is a prequel to the "Steel Nation" saga, which appeared in Magnus, Robot Fighter #1-4.
  • From the foreword by Jim Shooter: "Zero-numbered issues have become a tradition at VALIANT, however, this issue, which is truly the first realization of our dream to build a universe, will always have a special place in our history and in out hearts. -- I hope you enjoy it.
  • The issue is "dedicated to the memory of Russ Manning."

Quote1 The scrambled mess in my head gives me free will. What if you "fixed" me right back to being an ordinary robot? Repair is death. I would rather live with the damage. You could straighten my leg though... Quote2
